When shooting a building next to water, try to catch both: the building itself and its reflection in the water. It will add great dynamic and perspective to the photo.

Look for the building’s reflections in the surface of a lake, a river, or a water pool. To catch a perfect double symmetry, find angles that reflect as much of the building as possible.
